Historic Preservation
Since 1890, the mission of the NSDAR has been to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism. The Historic Preservation Committee seeks to honor the nation’s heritage, focus on the future, and celebrate America. In Seminole County, the chapter is devoted to preserving our past for future generations.
Historic Markers
Over the years, the chapter has placed eight historic markers at sites in and around Sanford, the county seat. Chapter members and their families have also donated items of historical importance which are on display in the DAR Room, at the Museum of Seminole County History.

2020 DAR Historic Preservation Grant
We are thrilled to announce that a 2020 NSDAR Historic Preservation Grant was awarded to the Chapter Regent’s Project. This $5000 Grant is being awarded to the Museum of Seminole County! These funds will be used to preserve the Cabriolet buggy. The knowledge gained from this conservation treatment can then be transferred to the other buggies in this Collection dating from 1795 up through the creation of the automobile.
