Become a Member

Joining DAR gives you a way to honor and preserve the legacy of your patriot ancestor. Over two hundred years ago, American patriots fought and sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today. As a member of DAR, you can continue this legacy by actively supporting historic preservation, promotion of education, and patriotic endeavors.
  • Do you know your American roots and your family’s role in America’s history?
  • Do you have an ancestor who fought in or supported the American Revolution?
  • Do you want to make a difference in your community and help preserve America’s heritage?

Who is Eligible for Membership?
Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution, is eligible for membership. Tracing your lineage is valuable because it preserves your family’s heritage.

Members of the Sallie Harrison Chapter NSDAR are willing and able to provide guidance and assistance to women who think they may be eligible for membership. Take your first step into the world of genealogy with us. To get started, contact us.

NEW:

As of January 1, 2014, DAR will consider Y-DNA evidence, along with more traditional genealogical sources in the  verification of member-related applications.
Learn about "DNA & DAR"
“We are very excited to take our DAR membership verification process to a new level by allowing the submission of Y-DNA test results as part of the genealogical analysis of evidence for membership applications...I look forward to this policy adaptation opening the door for more prospective members to apply to our great organization.”
- President General Lynn Forney Young
