Become a Member

Joining DAR gives you a way to honor and preserve the legacy of your patriot ancestor. Over two hundred years ago, American patriots fought and sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today. As a member of DAR, you can continue this legacy by actively supporting historic preservation, promotion of education, and patriotic endeavors.
  • Do you know your American roots and your family’s role in America’s history?
  • Do you have an ancestor who fought in or supported the American Revolution?
  • Do you want to make a difference in your community and help preserve America’s heritage?

Who is Eligible for Membership?
,Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution, is eligible for membership. Tracing your lineage is valuable because it preserves your family’s heritage.

Members of the Sallie Harrison Chapter, NSDAR are willing and able to provide guidance and assistance to women who think they may be eligible for membership. Take your first step into the world of genealogy with us. To get started, contact us.

NEW:
As of August 1, 2020, the DAR began accepting autosomal DNA (atDNA) for proof of lineage when there is no existing documentation to prove lineage within the first three generations e.g. the applicant, the applicant’s parents, and the applicant’s grandparents.
Learn about "DNA & DAR"
“This new policy (accepting atDNA) will benefit applicants in cases where adoption or misattributed parentage exists within the first three generations of their lineage.
Autosomal evidence will only be accepted when traditional documentation does not exist. ”

Rise and Shine for America,
Denise Doring Van Buren
