Joining DAR gives you a way to honor and preserve the legacy of your patriot ancestor. Over two hundred years ago, American patriots fought and sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today. As a member of DAR, you can continue this legacy by actively supporting historic preservation, promotion of education, and patriotic endeavors.

Junior Membership Any woman aged 18 to 35 is recognized as a Junior Member. These women hold full DAR membership and may serve as officers and chairmen at the national, state, and chapter levels.

Who is Eligible for Membership?
Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible for membership. Tracing your lineage is valuable because it preserves your family’s heritage.
Members of the Sallie Harrison Chapter, NSDAR, are willing and able to provide guidance and assistance to women who think they may be eligible for membership. Take your first step into the world of genealogy with us. To get started, contact us. Remember, genealogy research is complimentary for those seeking membership.
ATTENTION: As of August 1, 2020, the DAR began accepting autosomal DNA (atDNA) as proof of lineage when no existing documentation exists to prove lineage within the first three generations (e.g., the applicant, the applicant’s parents, and the applicant’s grandparents). Held every August, this Tea offers the opportunity to welcome new and prospective members to the chapter. The event is hosted by a chapter member and offers a friendly, educational afternoon that highlights the mission and activities of the DAR. For more information, please contact us. Beyond local meetings and local service, membership opens the door to inspiring travel and collaboration with fellow Daughters at the state, national, and international levels. Members have the opportunity to attend the Florida State Society (FSSDAR) State Conference in Orlando, participate in regional workshops, and travel to Washington, D.C., for the renowned NSDAR Continental Congress held at our historic national headquarters. At the heart of everything we do is a steadfast dedication to the three core pillars of the DAR: Historic Preservation, Education, and Patriotism. Today, our chapter actively advances these pillars by preserving local historical sites and records, supporting heritage education initiatives and student scholarship awards, and conducting dedicated veteran outreach, ensuring that the sacrifice of our nation's founders and heroes continues to inspire future generations. |
